Stowfordscom Mission

This article says it all…. or most of it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/pubs/8739561/The-village-that-saved-its-pub.html
In esscence we all know of a pub or inn we wish to love and enjoy. I have several. Many are owned by Pubco others are simply for sale freehold. Its this latter that we can all address. Not all will stock the Stowfords (yet anyway…) but that’s not the point. The point is we may not be able to save the Church, P.O. or local shop or other loved business, but PUBS belong to US… oh and the landlord (or he thinks he does…)

Much is said about the new Big Society. The local pub is the one thing we can all make our own.

This is a rallying call to all this who realise what fun it would be to a real focal point in YOUR village.

Life can be so unfair…

You would think an ancient pub, newly re-opening, under local ownership, would be wecomed with open arms. Not always.
A case in point. The previous licenseing hours were applied for. No problem you would think. So it seems an error that the notice inferred an increase in hours has caused several objections including turning it into a house rather than keeping a “pub as the hub”.
Hopefully the license WILL be granted, but at what cost to local good will.
Such a pity…

Bottled v. Draft

For Bottled: Different tastes, have to drink whole container, need to keep a big fridge full, less waste but dearer.

For Draft: original flavour, better not drink whole container (at least not in one go…), always chilled, cheaper but no waste (not by me anyway).
